The jackdaw and the doves
A jackdaw, seeing some doves in a cote abundantly provided with food, painted himself white and joined them. In this way he hoped that he might share their plentiful provisions.
As long as he was silent, the doves supposing him to be one of themselves, admitted him to their cote.
But when one day he began to chat, they discovered his true character and drove him out,
pecking him with their beaks,
Failing to obtain food among the doves, he returned again to his own kind.
But the jackdaws too, not recognising him because of his color, angrily drove him because of his color, angrily drove him away.
By desiring two objects, he obtained neither.

เจ้ากาตัวหนึ่งเห็นนกเขาหลายตัวอยู่ในรังที่อุดมสมบูรณ์ด้วยอาหาร มันจึงระบายสีตัวเองให้เป็นสีขาวแล้วเข้าไปรวมกับพวกนกเขา โดยวิธีนี้กาหวังว่ามันจะแบ่งอาหารอันมากมายของนกเขาได้นานเท่านานที่กายังสงบเงียบอยู่ พวกนกเขาก็นึกว่ากาเป็นหนึ่งในพวกของมัน จึงยอมรับเข้ามาอยู่ด้วย
แต่วันหนึ่ง มันก็เริ่มส่งเสียงคุย พวกนกเขาจึงรู้ถึงลักษณะอันแท้จริงของมัน จึงพากันไล่มันไปเสียโดยการใช้ปากจิก เมื่อไม่สามารถหาอาหารจากพวกนกเขาได้ต่อไป เจ้าการก็กลับไปอยู่กับพวกเดียวกันอีก แต่พวกกาก็จำมันไม่ได้เสียแล้วเพราะสีขาวบนตัวของมัน พวกกาจึงพากันขับไล่มันไปด้วยความโกรธ
เป็นเพราะว่ามันต้องการของสองสิ่งพร้อมๆกัน ทำให้มันไม่ได้อะไรเลยสักอย่างเดียว
